• There’s a new winter farmers market in the city. The St. Louis Community Farmers Market, St. John’s Episcopal Church, 3663 Arsenal, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on the second Saturday of the month through April.
• An electric vehicle charging station has opened in downtown St. Louis. The Coulomb ChargePoint Network EV charging station opened at the corner of 7th and Lucas in the Mercantile Exchange District.
• Bradd Young, Murphy Lee, Aloha Mi-Sho, Ebony Eyes, Brittany J, Shawty Da Prince, J-Kwon, Rockwell Knuckles and Hakeem the Dream will all be featured on the Moscato Music Mixtape, which drops Feb. 9.
• St. Louis University will move its law school to downtown St. Louis in August. They will be moving into an 11-story building at 100 North Tucker.
• Rapper Jim Jones, who is featured on TV’s “Love and Hip Hop,” is at the Imperial Palace Feb. 11 for a Pre Valentine’s Day Party. Tickets are $15-$20.
• Our town’s Blake Ahearn (De Smet, Missouri State) leads the NBA developmental league in scoring this season with an average of 24.6 points a game.
• J*DaVeY, Just Blaze and the Bo-Keys are coming to Lola. Here’s the rundown: The Bo-Keys, 7 p.m. March 21, $10-$12 (on sale Jan. 30); Just Blaze, 10 p.m. March 30, $20-$25 (on sale Jan. 30); J*DaVeY, 9 p.m. March 31, $12-$15 (on sale Jan. 30).
• Love and Hip Hop star Chrissy Lampkin was in the house at the Loft Saturday night.
• Popular Rep. Karla May is running in House 84 against Hope Whitehead. The two have tangled twice before.
• The Grove has started off the new year with several new business openings and planned openings of several more. Urban Breath Yoga at 4237 Manchester opened on Jan. 1. Located in the same block is No Coast Skateboards, which opened last year and bills itself as the only skater-owned and operated shop in St. Louis. Planning to open soon along the same stretch is the SoHo Restaurant and Lounge, which is described as an upscale restaurant with a rooftop deck for dining and lounging. Sameem Afghan Restaurant, which had originally been on South Grand but closed for a couple of years, reopened two weeks ago at 4341 Manchester. Finally, O’Shay’s Irish Pub, is planning a spring opening.
• Commuters can soon expect more traffic delays in the area of the Cheshire Inn at Clayton Road and Clayton Avenue near Skinker. The St. Louis City Streets Department has approved a plan that will give the Cheshire Inn 25 additional parking spots. The Cheshire Inn plans on building a restaurant at the site. Clayton Avenue will become narrower because of the additional parking spots at the Cheshire Inn. The restaurant at the Cheshire Inn will open by late summer.
• Idle Warship, the collaboration of rapper Talib Kweli and singer Res, comes to 2720 Cherokee on Feb. 15. Tickets are $20-$25. After party is at Lola with the Soulition DJs and more.
• A Music and Poetry Open Mic Night is held every Friday, 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., at Hartford Coffee Shop, 3974 Hartford at Roger in St. Louis. For more details, call 771-JAVA (5282).
• Hamburger Mary’s Bar & Grille has opened at 3037 Olive, in the space that previously was Lush Nightclub. Meanwhile, Courtney Severit, who also owns the yet-to-open Bliss Dessert Bar at 1136 Washington Avenue, has applied for a liquor license and 3 a.m. closing-time permit for a new bar called Lotus, to go into the former El Borracho space at 2001 Locust downtown.
• Jay Swoboda, founder of the Whats Up social justice newspaper, has imposed a deadline of Jan. 31 to raise $5,000 from the community — along with an increased awareness of the publication and its mission — or he’ll shut the paper down. • The Market Grill in Soulard (728 Lafayette) is now serving brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am-3pm.
• Nappy Roots and Afroman are new acts coming to the Warehouse, 2501 S. Jefferson. The two are coming in separate shows. Nappy Roots, Strata-G, Kold Kace, Nuttinxnyce, Gator Macc, MATB, Mr. Toney, Black Chan and David J, Feb. 11, $13. Afroman, opening acts to be announced, Feb. 10, $15-$17.
• Comedian Wanda Sykes is at the Peabody Opera House with a concert on March 8.
• “Run for the Chocolate,” a 5K/1 mile run-walk on Sunday, Feb. 12, will be from Laclede’s Landing to Crown Candy Kitchen, 1401 St. Louis Avenue, and back. It will begin at 9 a.m. at the riverfront and proceeds will benefit the Downtown Bicycle Station. There will be edible prizes for all finishers and winners in the bachelor and bachelorette age group categories will win blind dessert dates with each other. Cost for the run is $30 a person or $50 a couple.
• Trey Songz “Anticipation 2our” comes to the Fox Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 12. Big Sean is also on the bill.
• A new restaurant, Epic Pizza & Subs, is now open in Soulard at 1711A South Ninth Street.
• Riley’s Pub at Arsenal and Arkansas is in the middle of improving the space in front of their business to accommodate smokers.
• Harry’s, the restaurant/bar downtown at 2144 Market, is getting a facelift. Horizon, at Harry’s, is the name of the “ultra chic new boutique nightclub” and event space coming Feb. 29.
• Poetry, Prose and Pints is held the first Tuesday of every month, 7:30 to 10 p.m., at Dressel’s Public House, 419 N. Euclid, near McPherson, Central West End, second floor. Hosted by Kristen Sharp.

• The Old Rock House (1200 South Seventh Street) in St. Louis next month will start a new “Live & Local STL” series designed to highlight local beers and local bands. The free series kicked off Jan. 11, when the Old Rock House will put seasonal Schlafly Scotch Ale on draft to go with a performance by Celtic-music duo Joe Stickley and Sean Canan. Doors to each Live & Local STL event open at 7 p.m. A representative from the brewery whose beer is being featured will conduct an informal chat and sampling at 8 p.m. After that, the band will play.
• Devon Alexander’s next fight is scheduled for Feb. 25 versus Marcos Maidana at the Scottrade Center. Alexander will by vying for Maidana’s WBA world light welterweight title.
• Soulition! Wednesdays is new to Lola (500 North 14th Street), with regular DJ spins from JMo, Will Power, Kase One, Enoch, DJ 76Kid, Reminisce and Nappy DJ Needles spinning hip-hop, funk, rare grooves, acid jazz and soul house. Free.
• R&B singer Eric Benet will be in concert Feb. 11 at Lumiere Place Casino’s Lumiere Theater. There will be two shows, at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
